AGENDAS FOR HISTORY EDUCATION
The world is an increasingly complex place. The COVID-19 pandemic; racial injustice; global climate crisis; rise of far-right parties; growing economic inequality; continued military conflicts; increased global migration; proliferation of fake news and post-truth; increasingly diverse societies; demands for rights, reconciliation, and decolonization from Indigenous peoples and minoritized groups; and inflamed debates about public commemorations of the past have raised many compelling issues. Given the complexities that people are currently facing, traditional approaches to history education no longer suffice and new approaches are needed.
In this interactive video and Twitter series, we are inviting history educators from around the world to share their visions of what school history is for, and how it might contribute to helping students better understand the past, face the complexity of the present, and build a better future.

We will be periodically posting history education video provocations on the #PastFwd YouTube Channel to begin conversations on Twitter using the hashtag #PastFwd. We invite teachers, history educators, historians and others interested in teaching and learning history to respond to the ideas presented and join the conversation.
